SB 1 background
In April 2017, the Governor signed Senate Bill 1 (SB 1) , the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017. This bill created the Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Program to address deferred maintenance on the State Highway and the Local Street and Road Systems.
SB 1 does not have a set expiration date and remains in effect. It is an ongoing funding mechanism for transportation infrastructure across the state.
SB 1 resources support road maintenance, bridge repairs, public transit upgrades, pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, and congestion relief projects. SB 1 also offers matching funds to local governments with their own transportation taxes, helping amplify local investment.
