Performance improvements to critical highway system

The National Highway Performance Program (NHPP) supports the condition and performance of the National Highway System (NHS).

The National Highway Performance Program (NHPP), originally established under Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21) and continued under Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act, is extended.

The purposes of this program are to provide support for the condition and performance of the National Highway System (NHS), for the construction of new facilities on the NHS, for activities to increase resiliency of the NHS to mitigate cost of damages from sea level rise, extreme weather events, flooding, wildfires, or other natural disasters, and to ensure that investments support performance targets established in a State's asset management plan for the NHS.
