This program offers support for research, training, and mitigation measures aimed at reducing wildlife-vehicle collisions.
The Wildlife Crossings Pilot Program will support projects that seek to reduce the number of wildlife-vehicle collisions, and in carrying out that purpose, improve habitat connectivity. This program will fund projects that reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions.
Provisions related to this pilot program require the study of methods to reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions, workforce development and technical training courses, standardized methodology for collecting and reporting spatially accurate wildlife collision and carcass data for the NHS, and guidance on evaluating highways for potential mitigation measures to reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions and increase habitat connectivity. This program provides $350 million over four years.
